Identification book - Belts and Buckles (Archaeology) Volume 5
The book is ONLY in German!
Belts. Recognize. Determine. Describe.
The archaeological identification book "Gürtel" (Belts) deals with an extraordinary archaeological find group, which is characterized by particularly diversely designed and richly decorated pieces. Belts play a special role in the equipment of Roman soldiers, as a sign of dignity of Frankish warriors or in women's costumes. In addition to the composition of entire belt sets and belt chains, attention is paid to the individual parts such as buckles, belt hooks and strap tongues. Each type is characterized by a precise description of its form and variants, by information on age and distribution, and by references to the use of the fittings.
In the series "Bestimmungsbuch Archäologie" archaeological finds from the German-speaking region are presented across time from the beginnings to the High Middle Ages. Each volume is systematically structured and has been specially designed for the identification of archaeological collections. It is scientifically sound, extensively illustrated, and suitable for the professional as well as for students or local historians.
